Once unwrapped you can see that the board itself is an impressive item Asus M4A89GTD PRO the components carrying an attractive white, blue and black Asus M4A89GTD PRO. Also of note is that this board represents yet another fanless design from ASUS which i always like. The rear of the board is clutter free with only the CPU backplate as a point of interest.
Rear of the board. They are fairly tightly packed but i'd imagine only the largest DIMMs think 'Reaper' style heatpipe models might have issues during install. Of course this solution isn't capable of recording audio so there is nothing to say except that it doesn't do that. Well that is aside Asus M4A89GTD PRO the fact that many HTPC chassis are designed for smaller form factor boards rather than full sized ATX Asus M4A89GTD PRO like this one.
Though such chassis do exist if you choose to go that route. It boasts a fairly impressive feature list according to ASUS' published specifications for the board.
For this portion of the review I went with Disturbed, Indestructible. CD audio playback was flawless though I expected nothing less. This is actually something that every manufacturer has pretty much nailed.
The recording was made with the Microphone Boost option disabled, then enabled. The Microphone Asus M4A89GTD PRO option is found within the advanced menu under the microphone section with in the Volume Control Menu. The recording sample was audible with the microphone boost option enabled, but it had some fairly bad distortion.
Like pretty much every integrated GPU since time began, it's hopeless for 3D rendering, as in can't-even-cope-with-CoD4-at-low-res hopeless. That's something even MB of dedicated Asus M4A89GTD PRO graphics memory can't help. Of course, a pair of PCI-e x16 ports await the insertion of proper graphics firepower.
